What To Do


There are some simple steps that your drivers can take at the scene of an accident to help minimise the overall costs of the incident. Our scene of accident checklist can be distributed to drivers.

This checklist includes recommendations such as:

1. If your vehicle is involved in an accident, call one of these numbers:
  • If the vehicle requires recovery immediately call 0800 389 9678.
  • You must notify any police officers on the scene that recovery of your vehicle has been arranged by Brit Insurance and is en route, with an estimated arrival time within 30 minutes.

Or

  • If the vehicle is mobile call 0800 328 9076. Arrangements can then be made for the vehicle to be repaired.

2. Do not admit fault or liability.

3. Do exchange names and addresses, vehicle details and insurance particulars with the other party(ies).

4. Do record the exact time, date and location of the accident, and wherever possible, obtain details of any witnesses. Photographs can also help. You can use a camera or your mobile phone.

5. Do forward immediately all correspondence received from any party involved in the accident. Do not answer any correspondence.
